To help you keep up with your healthy eating efforts and 2012 detox plans, we’ve put together a couple of very simple strawberry smoothie recipes that will give you an extra spring in your step.
Treat yourself to a strawberry smoothie for breakfast or a mid-morning snack in-between your green tea breaks for a sweet and sumptuous kick that won’t stray from your healthy eating plan. In fact, healthy fruit smoothies contain plant fibres that are absorbed more thoroughly when blended, as it simulates ‘chewing’, which allows for quicker and more uniform vitamin and mineral absorption in your body.
Furthermore, one cup of strawberries contains only 43 calories and a low glycaemic index, making it a tasty snack that will allow you to continue your New Year’s resolution to be in great shape for the summer.
The Simple Smoothie
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cup of strawberries
1/2 cup of yoghurt (either fruit flavoured or natural with sugar or honey to taste)
1 cup of whole milk
Directions:
Blend the ingredients for 30 seconds and enjoy!
The Slushy Smoothie
Ingredients:
1 cup of strawberries
1/2 cup of whole milk
1 tbsp. of brown sugar
3/4 cup of ice cubes
Directions:
First, blend the strawberries, sugar, and milk until smooth, then add the ice cubes and blend for an additional minute until the smoothie becomes slushy.
